Camps

United Methodist churches of Oklahoma view Christian camping as an opportunity for education and ministry.
Oklahoma United Methodist churches are given a financial goal annually to offer this unique ministry to children, youth, adults and families.

If you have special interest in camp ministry, you are encouraged to make financial gifts or to place the camps in your will to insure the future ministry through camping. These tax deductible gifts are encouraged, needed and appreciated. See our Donate link above for more details and our “resources page” for more opportunities to give.
The campsites have a master plan for building our future.

Oklahoma United Methodist Camps are open to all persons regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, age or gender.

The Philosophy of United Methodist Camps

Camp and Retreat Ministries provide experiences that shape and expand the Christian commitment of persons of all ages, empowering them to live the truth of the gospel in their daily lives. These ministries create environments that are conducive to listening and responding to God.
The unique characteristics of these environments include: intentional times and places set apart from daily life, under the guidance of servant leaders, experiential models of learning in which the whole person encounters the word of God,  and a community of faith that challenges, nurtures, and celebrates new understandings of God’s action in their lives.

Out of these experiences, people return with the heightened awareness of God’s redeeming grace in Jesus Christ, and are able to be more responsible disciples in God’s world. They enter into local church communities inspired, renewed and dedicated to faithful service.

These early elementary campers enjoy a taste of hiking, swimming, crafts and active learning in small groups under the caring and watchful eye of shepherds and leaders.

All activities and creative worship in this overnight camp are geared for this younger age-level. After this fun camping experience, children will want to return to camp year after year.

Growin’ in Grace

Older elementary campers have the opportunity to experience God’s love in God’s beautiful creation over this three day; two night camp. In addition to hiking, swimming, recreation, and crafts, campers participate in interactive small group learning and creative worship.

During these experiences, campers build relationships with new friends from other churches around the state that continue as they return to camp year after year.

In this electives-base older elementary camp, campers will have the opportunity for swimming, nature hikes, worship, and creative activities. Campers choose discovery centers where they can share their gifts of music, drama, sports, dance, and more. The joy of active learning and expressions of God’s gift within each camper is the focus of this camp.

As a result of attending Joy camp, campers will know that they are uniquely gifted to worship God

6th Grade Camp

Entering 3rd through 5th Grade – Creative Arts

Contact: Carrie Helm

This week is an opportunity for campers to experience living in community with others, with God, and in creation so that they begin to see and feel God’s love every day within themselves, their friends, families, and their local churches.

Each site features unique aspects for campers. For instance, Camp Egan features creek walks, a Discovery Center and cookouts.

Trained, experienced leaders facilitate faith development in small groups, in worship, and through fun activities with others. Campers will return home knowing more about who they are as individuals, as members of a community, and in relation to God through Jesus Christ.

Campers in this challenging environment will learn, about community building, camping skills, and how to care for creation. This year’s theme is “Serve the Lord.”

This camp is limited to those who will be in the 7th or 8th grade in the fall and registration is limited, so register early to get your spot.

Senior High Camps – C.Y.M.E

Freshmen to Seniors

Contact: Ryan Cooke

Conference Youth Ministry Enterprise is a leadership training camp. The camp is serious business with non-stop intensity and excitement. It will push youth to the limits of Christian community, leadership skills, discipleship, peer ministry and hearing their call in Christ. The goal is to give the campers resources and knowledge on what mission means to the UMC, locally, nationally, and globally!

C.Y.M.E. differs from other camps where small groups play a crucial role. The emphasis is not on the growth of the small group but rather on giving campers information, ideas, and the ability to hone their leadership skills. (Thinking about how to make an impact at their local church.) This camp is for youth who show leadership in their church and have a desire to learn more about what it means to be United Methodist.
